History weekend … Freedoms of the Forest

HOOF Film Poster 2017 red (Mobile)Saturday 8 July at 8 pm, as part of the Coleford Festival of Words, ‘HOOF – the film’ will be shown at the Coleford Baptist Hall. Rich Daniels, HOOF Chair, Freeminer and Verderer, will lead a short discussion on the way forward.

Hopewell Colliery Poster 2017 v2 (Mobile)Sunday 9 July, also as part of the Festival, ‘Freedoms of the Forest: 800 years and counting’ at Hopewell Colliery 2 pm – 5 pm – a celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Charter of the Forests which returned access rights to the common man, and how Foresters have been defending those rights ever since.
Lots of entertainment – Berry Hill Silver Band, Six Foot Way Forest folk band, theatre, speeches, Lydbrook School reading Forest poetry, Keith Morgan, Max, Tom Cousins doing his thing, stalls and displays …
