Waterloo exhibition at Dean Heritage Centre

The Waterloo exhibition now on at Dean Heritage Centre – poster attached – is well worth seeing. It runs until the end of December and has been created by Steven Carter. He grew up in the Forest and became interested in his grandfather’s role in the 1949 flooding. Steve has carried out considerable research and produced a fantastic exhibition, covering the beginnings, the name, the flooding and the closure. It offers new insights and pays tribute to the hard working miners of the Forest.

Friends of Gloucestershire Archives – forthcoming events

Dear FoGA members –
Attached is information about events being planned for next month and into next year. Here too is the booking form for the next occasion – the visit ‘aloft’ in Gloucester Cathedral on Tuesday 12 November

Please kindly be aware that numbers for this are limited because of the space available in the Library and Archives and the Organ Loft; members of FoGA therefore have priority booking.

There are already a couple of firm dates for your 2020 diaries:

Wednesday 4 March – an afternoon visit to the Museum in the Park
in Stroud

Sunday 14 June – another of John Chandler’s much enjoyed Mystery Tours

Please contact me if you have any queries: tuneone@waitrose.com.
